The Driftwood Reactive Loadbox does more than simply provide a load for your tube amplifier. It recreates the electrical behavior of a real guitar cabinet, allowing your power amp to react naturally while recording silently.The result is the dynamic response, sag and feel you expect from playing through a real 4×12 cabinet—without having to turn up the volume.

How does this work?

Inside the Reactive Loadbox are carefully selected high-power resistors, premium capacitors and custom inductors that recreate the impedance curve of a real 8 Ohm guitar cabinet. A guitar cabinet is not a fixed 8 Ohm load. Its impedance changes across the frequency spectrum and has a resonance peak that interacts with your amplifier’s output transformer and negative feedback circuit. This interaction is a major part of how a tube amplifier feels and responds while playing. Many conventional loadboxes use a mostly resistive load, which can result in a flatter and less dynamic playing experience. The Driftwood Reactive Loadbox preserves this interaction, allowing your amplifier to respond much closer to the way it would with a real speaker cabinet connected. The current production version features two selectable voicings:

Normal – A balanced, full low end that stays tight, especially with modern high-gain tones.
Low Boost – The original voicing with approximately 1–1.5 dB more low end for players who prefer a bigger bass response.
